Looking to buy a "Barcelona" slalom kayak, but not sure if I'm too heavy for it. I'm pretty sure its an older style (4m), but I'm not really interested in competetively running gates.

I'm 5'9" and 190ish. Do you think this would ride too low?

thanks in advance for the info.

The Barcelona is indeed an older 4m design dating back to 1992, but I'm afraid that I don't have any info as to the paddler's design weight for this boat.

Having had one, it doesn't spin quickly compared to modern 3.5m boats, but tracks very well. It makes a great attainment and general training boat. It was designed , I think in 1991, for the '92 Olympics in Barcelona by Richard Fox, 6x Gold Medalist-World Champ. The Oly course was expected to be fairly direct, but alas, it wasn't and Fox finished a disappointing 4th place.
That said I've had many a fun run on the Dryway in my Barcelona.
I'm 5'8" and 165ish.
Try before you buy.
