The SOC is trying to get the rodeo hole project completed the way it was intended to be and need our show of support to get it moving again. A phone call or email to the supervisor voicing your support for the project is all that is needed. Apparently, there is some local opposition to completing the project as the two boulders that were put in are being used as an example of increasing the danger to boaters. It appears to be just one person with a personal vendetta that is against the project so I believe our support should more than be enough to get past one person's opposition. As it stands, the "feature" is somewhat an entrapment hazard for tubers who lack the ability to ferry around it. Water does flow through the gaps in the placed rocks, it's just a matter of time before one of them is filled with an ankle. That said, I'm all in favor of someone getting their a$$es in gear and fixing the feature, or getting rid of it entirely. This is a public resource afterall. Don't be a ficken chucker.

I'll be calling, and emailing, and calling again, and emailing again. I hope many, many others do the same. Who knows, I never thought I'd see the Lookout Mountain expansion at Whiteface completed in my lifetime, so maybe there's a chance I'll see my playboat on a decent feature at the Sac before I check out as well. Dare to dream!

While I don't always stay the night I always stop locally in town at a few of the stores and other attractions in the area and spend some of my "tourist" dollars. This year alone I've been up a dozen times and introduced three new people to the river. The Sacandaga river is a tremendous resource that should be maximized to its fullest extent. I support completing the river modifications already started. The benefits would be to fix the current status of the feature, and to recognize the untapped tourism generating potential. For long stretches of the summer, there are no reliable white water releases or flows in much of the upstate area. The river modifications as designed will add a considerable incentive for many kayakers to travel to the area. I support completing the project as designed. Thank you Charles S NPMB.COM American Whitewater Volunteer

I have been kayaking on the Sacandaga about 15 times per year over the past 4 years. I have nothing but good things to say for your town, the Sacandage Outdoor Center, Brookfield power, and all of the people I have met on the river (Kayakers, fishers, rafters, and tubers). Everyone is always friendly and respectfull to the natural beauty of the area. The changes I have seen over the past 4 years have also been very positive: the park on river right above the Bow bridge, the Bow bridge renovation, and the river improvements below the bridge. Thank you for supporting these changes. I understand that further changes to the lower rapids are under consideration. I have seen some of the plans for these changes and I strongly support them. I feel they will be beneficial to the kayakers, rafters, and tubers who use the river. I think the town will see further increases in tourist traffic as these changes continue. This river is a real gem and I think it is currently only realizing about 50% of its true potential. I am not sure where the decision process stands, but if you are looking for outside input, my vote is to make the river changes. If you are looking for some people to attend town meetings to express opinions, I would be glad to do that also. As a professional engineer and an experienced Kayaker, I feel that I can express a valued opinion on the positive merits of this change. It is fun to split them. Left is abit boring and you have to work to get there in the first place. At most this is a class 3 feature with no risk of pinning or getting re-circed....the worst that happens is you swim and there is plenty of eddy below. ...any thoughts?? To remind (or inform) him that its been done before to great success, both for boaters and the community? With the exception that you could paddle the Sac every day as opposed to a handfull of weekends per year on hte Salmon.
