American Whitewater is trying to organize a small group of volunteers to clean up any trash on the West River during the release day. The idea is go paddling, and do any trash pickup afterward as part of the Connecticut River Watershed Council’s Source to Sea Cleanup.. If anyone has a raft and would be willing to do a run and grab trash, that would be great. Best trash gets a free pair of Keen shoes.

Email me if you want to help out, and I’ll try to set up a meeting time and place.

Folks –

Alan had coordinated a river clean-up for the west on the 29th. He had been running interference with the park to make this happen and I am planning to step up as part of the VPC to head down to make sure the clean up happens. If any of you are planning to go to the west please plan to help with the river clean-up. I plan to coodrinate with the park and have details for you at the park gate (where they collect entry fees).

Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks everyone that took a bag and snaged some trash along the way today. From reports back – it didn’t sound like there was much garbage along the river, but what there was, got picked up!!!

AW appreciates the help, the VT State Park system appreciates the help and the town of Jamaica appreciates the help……

Well done folks!

Thanks for the effort Lora. Didn’t think you would find much along the upper portion of the run (although there was trash picked up at the put ins and take outs), the lower section had enough to fill a few bags. Any bit of trash that you snagged anywhere helps – any time…..

Thanks
