I’m looking for some general information regarding course options in the north east. Anyone know of any?

Ditto on the Zoar course. They have a basic and advanced. I’ve only taken the basic. But had the rare opportunity to not only do it with Zoars incredible Jim S, but also with Charlie Walbridge and Wayne Gman. If you sign up, check with them. They have been giving a substantial discount to NPMB members for this course.

If you’re in Vermont, I highly recommend taking Swiftwater Rescue with Mark Moore, which I took through the Vermont Paddlers Club. Mark is a dynamic instructor and a cool guy, and his course was informative and fun (and — fortunately or unfortunately — has stood me in good stead through many subsequent rescues).

Ditto Mark Moore. Hes really a great guy with a heck of a lot of experience. Courses like these, its most important that you get quality instruction, that is my only advice.
