Inherited a wooden Old Town canoe built in 1945. Needs new canvas. Wood looks good. Not sure what to do with it. Repair or sell, Any advice?

I think it depends on what you want to do. I am very biased, but I think nothing, absolutely nothing, paddles better than wood. There are many myths, and most of them are just that…MYTHS.

If you do it yourself, you can probably make that boat look like new again for about $600 to $1,000 That includes all the right, paint, varnish, canvas filler, canvas, etc. If you pay someone to do it, you likely won’t get your money back anytime soon. If you sell it with no canvas and if it is in good condition, you might get $600 to $800 for it.

Here is a good source of information. Anything and Everything you ever wanted to know about wooden canoes. It is a great organization. I urge anyone with an interest in these boats to consider joining.
