Over the years my back has aged even quicker than I have. My range of motion is not great and my roll sucks these days. It limits what I am comfortable paddling. So I am in search of a new boat that will roll better. I hope this will get me out on the river more. I am sure there are easier boats to roll than my semi-old Pyranha I:3. Should I just focus on a displacement hull, or is there more to it? Looking more for a river runner than a playboat. Intermediate level surfing. I have been reading up on the Braat, Remix, Zen, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Go see a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor for a private consult. The best thing I ever did. Significant improvement in range of motion and no longer in chronic pain. Made paddling and skiing a joy again.

I will second Yoga, heartily, to help range of motion.
I have been out of the game for a couple years. Went to try and see if I could still roll with a friend just yesterday. He has a Braaap. It was a super easy roller, even with my head coming up, and seemed like a nice boat. My river runner is a Remix and it’s a good roller as well. He did make the comment that he thought a displacement hull was easier due to the lack of edges.

Best of luck.

Pain Free by Pete Egoscue helped my back.

The old style boats with rounded hull would definitely be better than a flat bottom. The easiest would be a downriver race boat, but not much fun otherwise. Not that I know much. Just adding 2 cents.
