This Summer the CT AMC Whitewater committee is again running our 2 weekly instructional sessions that will take you from having never been in a whitewater kayak before to running class 2 whitewater!

STEP 1
Our Lake Beseck sessions are for anyone who is looking to learn the basics of whitewater kayaking with an eye to running rivers safely. Strokes, Boat control, or learning the Eskimo roll will all be covered. There will be volunteer instructors at every session. Instruction is generally one on one, in a very casual and friendly atmosphere. Limited amounts of paddling gear will be available for use on a first come first serve basis. It is recommended to bring your own helmet and life jacket if possible. Nose plugs are also helpful. Gear selection and sizes are limited. Everybody is welcome! To sign up, please call by the night before if possible.
Where? Town of Middlefield Beseck Lake Beach, Middlefield CT
When? Mon. evenings in July and August
Dates: July 1,8,15, 22, 29. August 5, 12, 19, 26
Cost: $10.00 per session. Gear rental, if needed, $5 per session
Contact: Mark Schappert 203-240-3544 riverloony@gmail.com

STEP 2
Weeknight On the river instructionals at Satan’s Kingdom
If you are a first time kayaker we require you attend a Lake Beseck session before attending this event
Once you have gotten the basics down you can progress to our On-the-river session at the Satan’s Kingdom section of the Farmington (Not as scary as it sounds!)
At these sessions you will learn river reading skills, ferrying, surfing and, of course get to try out a moving water roll.

Arrangements can be made to provide boats and gear if necessary.

Experienced boaters welcome!

Where? Contact leader for meeting time and place
When? Thurs. evenings in July and August
Dates: July 11,18,25 and August 1,8,15,22,29
Cost: FREE!
Contact: Contact Jeff Magee at seah20@sbcglobal.net 860-550-0131 or Ed Yiznitsky at edyiznitsky@snet.net 860-808-8808

Attending both of these sessions will teach you all you need to know to begin in this great sport!
