My condolences. I didn’t know Dennis well, but I spoke with him at festivals and corresponded with him a bit about his book projects. He was a great guy and he’ll be missed.
I’ll continue to remember him through his NY guidebooks. He allowed his personality to shine through in those books, and the paddling community continues to enjoy that.
I’m so sorry for your loss.

It’s always hard to articulate when you loose a special friend. &|
There are few that touch you (Both Physically & Spiritually) in a deep & substantive way that Dennis had.
Dennis was a magical Icon in our Whitewater paddling community and I can recall some of my most unique & memorable creeking experiences along side him.
I was truly honored & moved when he included a photo of my Open Boat in his "New York Exposed, The Whitewater State’ guidebook.
His Spirit, Energy & Eclectic-ness will live on through all who knew him and also in the future with the thousands of paddlers who experience his Zen like journey through the pages of his guidebook.
He has truly left a lasting impression on my life & influenced how I live it. I am a better person for knowing the WW outlaw, and he will live forever within me !
The WW boating community has really experienced a deep loss, deeper than any rivers hold on him.
My Heart goes out to his family.

i am so very sorry. i didn’t know dennis personally, but there is always that special boater connection that makes the loss difficult even for people i haven’t known well. this is now the 3rd person that i have known in some fassion to die from creeking accidents (chris wolski on the middlebury gorge who i did know well, linda weiss on the mettawee and finally dennis)…and it never gets easy. reminds us that everyone is mortal. my condolences to all family and friends.
